About Project Management Institute (PMI)
Project Management Institute (PMI),
one of the fastest growing chapters in the Asia Pacific
region founded in 1998 as an autonomous, non-profit,
membership association dedicated to the science of
project Management.
It was an honour for the students of Bangalore
School of Business, Bangalore to attend an seminar
of such nature. The seminar was aimed at clarifying
Project Management expertise & resources for
professional development, networking & community.
The objects of the seminar were to orient the student
community towards project management concept &
how it helps in sharpening the career in today’s
digital world. and create an awareness of project
management, the Chapter conducts a complementary
annual PM Primer program every year. This is a half-a-day
session for four hours & the students from various
colleges receive a Handbook on Project management.
Since 2009, over 900 students from more than 20
colleges have participated in this program. The
program covers various topics in Project Management
like Project & Project Management context, life
cycle, scope & describes the five process group
of project management framework- Initiating, Planning,
Executing, Monitoring & Controlling and Closing
with relevant examples, excellently delivered by
eminent speakers.
PM Primer also focused on the nine
knowledge areas of Project Management Body of Knowledge.
The program also highlights some of the key general
management concepts used in organizing & leading
teams, tracking progress, effective communication
& critical factors that influence successful project
execution. What a successful project manager should
do was vividly explained by the speakers.
Ultimately, the program brought the idea into light
that Project Management is nothing but a career
accelerator for students who wish to add more knowledge
to progress as a efficient manager.
